They can offer coaching sessions by phone at a convenient time to help you identify triggers and how you can overcome them.

Some patients can also benefit from attending an ‘Alan Carr’s Easy Way to Stop Smoking’ workshop arranged through Live Well Dorset. You might also like to borrow or buy the book to read yourself at home.

National Support

NHS Quit Smoking

Free resources, including a Personal Quit Plan and the NHS Quit Smoking app, to help you quit for good.

Medications

There are a few medications that can help you to quit by reducing cravings for nicotine and blocking its effect on the brain. These can be prescribed by your GP, particularly if you’ve tried other methods and still struggle. Contact your GP surgery to discuss further.

Social Media and Support Forums

Many online communities bring together people who are quitting smoking, providing peer support and encouragement. These can be a helpful option if you’re trying to quit without support from friends and family.
