Community Front Room
Bridport Community Front Room (CFR) is open to anyone over 18 who needs face-to-face support. Mental health professionals and peer support workers will be on hand to support you to manage a crisis and help you find a way forward. No appointment or referral needed, just turn up or call during their opening hours.

Steps 2 Wellbeing
Steps2Wellbeing is a free NHS Talking Therapies service for adults over 18 years old in Dorset. They offer a range of talking therapies including counselling, online courses, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and guided self-help to support people with common mental health issues like depression and anxiety. Self-referrals can be made using the info below, or a member of the Social Prescribing team can make a referral for you if needed.

Access Wellbeing (Drop-ins)
Access Wellbeing hubs are drop-in services where you can access support from trained wellbeing coordinators who have time to listen. No appointment necessary—just call in during opening hours.

Dorset Mind
Dorset Mind is a mental health charity that offers support to people struggling with their mental health in Dorset. They run friendly support groups, offer one-to-one help, counselling, and wellbeing activities like gentle exercise and workshops. Support is available for adults and young people, either in person or online. You can refer yourself or ask one of the Social Prescribing team to help you get in touch.

Prout Bridge Counselling
The Prout Bridge Project offers a free and confidential counselling service for adults, face to face in Beaminster. Coordinated by experienced counsellor Amy Lawrence, sessions provide a safe space to discuss issues like anxiety, depression, relationships, and trauma. Counsellors are members of professional bodies such as the BACP. While the service is free, donations are appreciated to support its continuation.

The Altering Group
Low-cost counselling, affordable one-to-one therapy. Remote sessions from £10–£40, based on annual income. All initial assessments are free, and following counselling sessions are charged on a sliding scale. They offer weekly remote counselling sessions, that last 50 minutes, for adults 18+ who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health challenges and other difficulties. They offer both short-term and long-term counselling, with the number of sessions agreed together with your counsellor.

The Harmony Centre – Drop-in
The Harmony Centre is a Bridport-based mental health and wellbeing charity offering friendly, informal support to adults in West Dorset. They provide drop-in sessions with activities like arts and crafts, yoga, and gardening, as well as crisis support through the Community Front Room service. No referral is needed; their services are open to anyone aged 18 and over.

START (Support, Transition & Recovery Team)
The Support, Transition and Recovery Team (START) is a community mental health service in Dorset that assists adults and older people in connecting with their communities through therapeutic activities, education, employment, and volunteering opportunities. They offer both one-on-one and group sessions, including sports like boxing and circuit training, as well as coffee and art groups, to help individuals manage their mental health and foster social connections.
