If you live in Bridport, Beaminster, Lyme Regis or the wider West Dorset area, you can speak directly with our Social Prescribers and Care Coordinators - no referral needed.

Dorset Council Family Help Team

Dorset Council offer support for families. You can self-refer to this team by calling 01303 228558 . Your call will be taken by admin support, and they will direct you through to the Family Help Team.

Dorset Council Educational Psychologists

Dorset Council offer parents and carers of children age 3 to 18 years (25 if the young person has SEND) the opportunity to speak with a Dorset educational psychologist (EP).

SEND Dorset Local Offer

Find out about help available for children and young people (from birth to 25) who have SEND. You can sign up to their e-newsletter to get the latest news and offers.

Let’s Talk SEND

‘Let’s Talk SEND’ online events give people in Dorset with children who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) a chance to come together and hear from the SEND team at Dorset Council. The sessions are held every 2 months and always include plenty of time for questions and answers (Q and A). You can also go to the website to see the questions asked by parents in previous sessions and the answers from the Council.

SENDIASS

Offer free, confidential, accurate and impartial advice and support to families living in Dorset. This is for:

  • Children and young people aged 0-25 with special educational needs and disability (SEND)
  • Parents and carers of children and young people with SEND
